Hi all, I have a PowerBook G4 (10.2.8) and am planning to upgrade the OS (the best I can do is Tiger 10.4). The problem is I havent backed up my hard drive. If I back up to an external drive and then upgrade operating system on my G4, will I still be able to access the info on the external drive?

Many thanks

Yep no problem. Wise move getting a large external. Make sure it is Firewire if possible.

10.2 to Tiger will be an easy uneventful upgrade. Once you get to 10.4 surf and get the Combo Updater and zoom to 10.4.10. Try and stay there for a little while till you get your bearings. It will prompt you to go to 10.4.11 and you are done.

If you want a bootable back-up of 10.2 (recommended) use SuperDuper rather than just copy the disk
