• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

This question would be directed at people that deal with filming. I am working on a film project with a friend and I'm trying to find the best camera for the job. It isn't a big movie project. It's something that could be shot like mythbusters or those other discovery shows. What camera would be best? It doesn't need to be HD. All we want is a camera that takes a stable shot with good audio.

If you're looking for a steady shot then you should also be looking into some sort of support system like a good tripod or steadicam mount, but those can get pricey.

Canon HV20's are nice, I don't know what you're budget is but you could look around for a used XL1 or XL2 as well, or maybe a Sony VX series.
