New 20" iMac--Noisy CD Drive

Just got new iMac 20" yesterday and am blown away--it's great. However, first use of the CD/DVD drive today and it was really noisy and clicking. Normal?

it is actually clicking the whole time the disk is in the drive and spinning. Its loud enough that my wife walked by and asked what the noise was.

From those that have Macs, what is the best way to have this looked at. Should I can Cust Support or take it to an Apple store?

Take it back to an Apple store. Both PCs and Macs use the same off the shelf DVD drives, hard drives and memory. It sounds like you got a duff part unfortunately.

Thanks for all the info. I've subsequently tried many different disks, as well as the original problematic disk, and have not heard the noise again. I got worried though.
