I need the advise or suggestions from someone with the same experience.

Since about 10 days ago I have been having a lot of connection issues. I am connected to a cable modem through a d-link dir-655 router. My connection issues are mainly with my iMac, but are also happening less often on my Macbook. I am having no connection issues with my Windows Vista laptop or my XP desktop. Prior to 10 days ago everything worked fine. I did upgrade the iMac to 10.5 and purchased a Time Machine back up drive. The drive is connected directly to the iMac via firewire. The Macbook is running 10.5 and was working fine prior to 10 days ago.

I am receiving 'not connected to the internet' messages in Safari, Firefox, iTunes and Entourage. This only happens sometimes. There is no rhyme or reason when it starts. I also receive 'cannot find server' message in my browsers. I can be on the internet with no issues for a while, then out of the blue it will start. It will only effect one or two web pages at a time. Typically the apple home page or my home page cox.net. I have also seen it effect yahoo and even this page earlier tonight. If it happens there is nothing to do, but restart the computer.

I have tried adjusting the settings on my router, but nothing seems to help. I have also connected to iMac to the cable modem directly and it does seem to work. Although, I don't know what would have happened if I had used it longer.

Does anyone have an idea or suggestion. BTW - I am running Parallels on my iMac and I can access the same exact web sites through IE using my Parallels shell. I have been able to get to these web sites at the same time as Safari or Firefox is telling me I have no internet connection.

I have been having a similar issue recently (since January 17th) with my MacPro. Connections to specific IP/port combinations get dropped out of the blue while connections to other IP/Port combinations work fine. The IP/port combinations appear random and remain "broken" for periods of time (15 minutes to an hour) before fixing themselves. Resetting the network (unplugging/replugging) fixes the problem immediately. None of the other machines on my network have exhibited the same behavior.

I have changed ethernet ports, changed routers and am just about ready to reinstall Leopard. My setup had been working flawlessly before and the only change has been the update to quicktime 7.4/itunes 7.6/frontrow 2.1.2 on Jan 15th.

I sure hope it is not a hardware problem. Attempting to reproduce the problem for a technician is difficult. I wonder if the Apple Hardware Diagnostic software would find something.

I've been having the same problems lately (both at work and at home). Airport is On for 10sec then Scanning for 10sec .... back and forth. At home I'm 1 room away from the wireless router so it can't be signal strength issue. There are a TON of posts on Apples Discussion forum about this issue. Some point to the security update on the 17th as the cause.

I too am having this problem with my new imac, but mine seems to be related to blue tooth issues that started when I was working on the boot camp side. tried to discover a new headset and from then on I have had problems connecting to the internet either on the mac side or the boot camp side. No problem with my pc or my macbookpro. Called Apple tonite held for 1/2 hour then spent 15 minutes with a tech who then gave me a csse number and transferred me to a wireless specialist, after 40 minutes of holding i gave up and will try tomorrow.

I have developed a solution that has been working great.

After struggling and reconfiguring everything I could think of, I found a thread on the Apple web site that indicated DNS issues. I noticed that my router's IP address was listed in the DNS field in network settings. At first glance (actually many glances) it seemed ok to me. What I did was to add my ISP's IP address as an additional DNS Server in the advanced setting. It is listed as the primary DNS Server.

Once I did that everything has been working great. It has been solid for about a week with 0 issues.

It seems that when I upgraded to Leopard something changed in the network settings that wasn't easily noticed. By following the MANY threads on different boards this seems to be a VERY common issue and Apple should address it.

Post back if this works for anyone else.

I'm having the same issue as everyone here since about one week ago also. I thought it was something to do with my internet connection at home, but I am visiting at my parents' house right now and having the same issue. Leads me to believe it is something with software on the actual computer. I have been on hold for an applecare "product specialist" for 1 hour and 45 minutes. I really really want to just hang up and go out to dinner but I can't see how I can, having waited so long already.

It's past 6PM now...they better not disconnect me.

One thing I may not have mentioned earlier; this was happening on my wife's Macbook, but not to the same degree. Her issues started at the same time as on my iMac. The same solution I listed above solved the connection issues on the MB as well.
