If there wasnt any to begin with than you probably dont need it. I doubt the audio processor gets hot enough to require the need for it anyway.

The G4s were generally much cooler than today's Intel chips are (mostly because they ran at fairly low clock speeds.) So I doubt thermal paste, or the lack thereof, would be an issue.

Have worked on Gigabit Ethernet, DA and Quicksilver and yet to see any thermal paste. Just seat and insert the three or four screws depending on the model.

I will back up what others here have said. I have seen no Thermal Paste on any G4 Yikes, Sawtooth, Digital Audio, ETC that I have worked with. Now some of the after market upgrade CPU's have paste though as they are much more powerful and need it.

Evnas, Digital Audio is the code name of the G4 Tower and not the processor.

Agreed, I learn something new almost daily. I hope he did not take it as a put down. Was just pointing it out so he would know.

Not at all. I assumed "digital audio" was refering to the sound card processor since it "didnt have thermal paste"...of course, I've never seen a sound card with a heat spreader in the first place, guess that should have been the first clue eh, lol

Mine didn't have any on it when I took it apart. However I had had some thermal paste lying around anyway and figured "what the hay." So it does now. No such thing as a processor running too cool
