Hi everyone, I'll be switching soon. Must a Firewire enclosure have an Oxford 911 chipset to work on a Mac? Thanks.

???

I don't know, but I would suggest just trying it out?

also maybe dig up the specs on the firewire cards apple recommends and see if they use the oxford 911 chipset.

www.apple.com/ipod there should be some recommended firewire cards there..

I suppose if the cards feature it, the enclosures should as well=????

Yeah it works! In fact it mounts faster than on my Windows laptop. Thanks for the reply.
