I'm thinking of going from my 120GB to at least a 250...will this make my MacBook louder?

Black MacBook- 2.2GHz, 1gb RAM, 160GB, Double-Layer Superdrive.
I see no reason why that would happen, if you get a good Hard Drive it should essentially make it quieter.

Depends on the drive. They all have different db levels.

From my experience... I got a 320Gb WD Scorpio HDD and it doesn't run louder... WD says the Scorpio HDD runs quieter and cooler.

if you get a faster drive it's very possible it'll be louder, otherwise it's very unlikely but depedns on what drive you're buying.
