well...for avi plugins I highly recommend installing perian (a codec pack for quicktime) and for some files that won't play you could use vlc.
if however the files still do not play after installing perian there is a good chance you downloaded something malicious with the player you installed...

You could also try the search function at the top. This has been discussed many times and you'll find good information.

well i downloaded vlc a while ago and it never worked and my mac is too old for perian (probably the same problem for vlc). i got a 10.2.8 piece of crapola can i get some advice from someone else with a 10.2.8 piece of crapola?

heres the problem:
downloaded codec and divxdoctorII, .avis stopped working
had to convert .avis to something else to work (forgot what cuz i deleted those files, something like .m1)
deleted codec and ddII, .avis still dont work

what's confusing is my avis worked before i downloaded the codec but it seems like everyone else with .avi problems didnt have those videos working for them in the first place. ***?

maybe it'll help if i tell what files i do have

in system x/quicktimejava folder:
CoreAudio.bundle, QuickTimeJava.bundle

in system x/quicktime folder:
QT Updater, QT3GPP.component, QTBMPUpdate.component, QTcomponents.component, QTFirewireDV.component, QTIIDCDigitizer.component, QTMPEG.component, QTMPEG4.component, QTStreaming.component, QTVR.component

QT is just my abbreviation for QuickTime
again i have a 10.2.8 (perian is not an option and vlc didnt work)
anyway, am i missing something?
