I use mine to transfer files between my PowerBook/Windows PC and friends' PC's as well. Basically to carry tonnes of media.

Mine is used for iTunes music, iPhoto Library, all my downloaded software updates, crap like that...

i dont have no mac's
i use mine for extra storage when ripping dvd's, use it for backups, my aperture vault, movies and logic projects, and storing complete and utterly useless stuff that i think i need

Oh, and back-ups, iTunes library etc - all the usual

250GB Firewire - fits nicely in my pocket too or laptop case

I use my 250Gb Freecom USB2.0 drive for iTunes music and Images. Only filled 22.7Gb so far though. Still got loads to go yet.

Why would you create a partition?

I just got a new external drive and a new powerbook....will be transferring some files from an ibook to each and I'm wondering why would you partition the hard drive?

to back up music, and other files. And to store large files that i need, but don't want wasting my internal HD. Or ot keep School file i'm not sure if i will need again
