Anyone know much about mac playstation emulators?

Ive been trying to set one up with mixed results. If worst comes to worst I could set up a windows emulator and set up epsxe on that, which is a pretty popular emulator with alot of knowledge and support around but thats a bit of effort (setting up the windows emulator etc.) so I'd rather leave that as a last resort. Most of the mac emlators Ive managed to find are pretty old and havent been updated in a while as its ps1. Im on a macbook so trying to run a ps2 emulator would probably be putting alot of strain on it. Does anyone know much about this sortve thing here? Any bit of info would be appreciated.

I'd install Windows through Bootcamp.

Are there actually any decent PS 2 emulators? I though they all sucked?

I have an impression for the most part they all suck, save a few on some very powerful machines. It's more about finding one thats current enough to have alot of people using it which a ps2 will fall under before a ps1. I think.

An alternative is to use an elgato device with a real PS2.

How does that work? The goal is to be able to bring a functional playstation anywhere via my laptop without bringing an actual playstation.
