When I´m on the go, should I turn the macbook off, or is it okay just to close the lid, and put it in the bag??

it's perfectly fine to close the lid (which puts it into sleep) and put it in your bag. in fact, i believe some people brag about how long it's been since they turned their macbooks off.

I bring my Macbook to my classes and so I'm lugging it around all day. When class ends, I just close the lid, wait a few seconds for the white light to start blinking, then throw it in my bag and head out. I do this at least a half dozen times a day with no ill effects. Sometimes it'll be days or weeks until I restart my Mac.

I have to restart it for updates every once in a while. And I had to shut it down yesterday when Apple figured out that I had a bad battery and they replaced it. Other than that, it never gets shut down. I just close it and throw it on the charger when I get a chance.

I try to restart mine every couple of days just to try to keep it running nicely.
Every once in a while, I need to restart it to get something working again. (wireless)

I have mine always in sleep mode when I am at home.
However, I shut it down when I am transporting it...don't know if it is necessary but just a habit of mine I guess...I actually feel better when it is off while carrying it around.

I'm an OC and I just don't feel well when I don't shut it down. :p

But based on the experiences of the other posters, leaving it asleep seems okay I guess.

Not only is it okay it is recommended by us and ,  says not to turn it off unless you won't be using it for a day or two.
