It seems intresting but how much would somthing like that cost and would it really be worth it. why dont you just stick to one machine instaead of buying two which are dependent on each other?

I don't see how that patent lead to a sub-notebook. I can see it on either of the currect laptops.

my bad, I didn't realize this was related to sub notebooks. I too see this as being applicable to any of the current notebook lines.

Personally, I think it's a bit ridiculous.

There are plenty of other companies that offer docking stations that allow you to put your computer in it and it activates a second keyboard, mouse and monitor and all your peripherals. So I see this just as an apple brand docking station that takes the apple laptop and makes it into a imac like computer.

I was thinking the same thing as technologist. It would be really cool to slide my Macbook into an iMac like docking station simply for the larger monitor (would make watching videos more enjoyable). Let's just hope it's not only for the rumored sub-notebook that might be released at Macworld.

The only thing that bothers me about this is cost. You're essentially paying for a 20" or 24" monitor, which run for about $200 - $400, and the electronics needed for the docking, which could easily add another $100 or so to the price. In the end, this could end up costing at least $300 or $400 for a 20" model. That's quite a bit of change when you take into consideration the $1300 - $1700 for the Macbook.

I read through parts of the patent and it seems that it could have a hard drive and a media card reader in it and that it will be liquid cooled...

It would really be helpful if they came out with a docking station for the MBP. An apple brand anyways. I have seen the dock end brand or what ever it is. Didnt really like it.
