OS software different for laptop and desktop?

hey,

Can anyone tell me if the software that comes with my new mac book pro
is different than what comes w/ a desktop model?

I am wanting install and upgrade my older Imac w/ 10.4.

1. Yes, the software included with one Mac will usually only work with that particular Mac.

2. Even if it is compatible, it would be a violation of the licensing agreement, and possibly of copyright law, to install a bundled copy on another Mac.

EDIT: Please don't double-post.

If you want to install on a computer other than the one the software came with, it is necessary to purchase the black retail install disc/s and not use the grey model specific discs.

You should, by law, only use single user software on one computer at a time.
