Well this is what it said when I clicked Verify Disk in disk utility.
Verifying volume “Macintosh HD”
Checking HFS Plus volume.
Checking Extents Overflow file.
Checking Catalog file.
Checking multi-linked files.
Checking Catalog hierarchy.
%)
Checking Extended Attributes file.
Checking volume bitmap.
Volume Bit Map needs minor repair
Checking volume information.
Invalid volume free block count
Invalid volume free block count
uld be %@ instead of %@)",2)

The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired.
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
1 HFS volume checked
Volume needs repair
So i think that the repair process goes as follows:
1. Start up using the original OSX disk that came with my computer.
Hold *Option* while the computer is booting up, right?
2. Open disk utility and click repair disk. (on which one? the one that says "Macintosh HD" or the one that has all the numbers?)
My main questions are:
1. Do i need to back up my computer for disk repairs? (Will it erase my hard drive?)
2. Will this repair have a big (or any) effect on my computer's performance? (Do i even need to do this at all?)
