Gimp works, there's just an update to X11 that you need to do AND you must run the most current version of Gimp (http://wilber-loves-apple.org/pages/download.html).

I went to the site, and it said Intel or PowerPC.

Do you have an old iBook or a new MacBook (Pro)? The old iBooks used PowerPC chips. The newer models use Intel.

Try Seashore. It's based on Gimp, but is written in Cocoa and doesn' require X11.
