Well one thing I used it for was to more easily run a game I have that requires the original CD. I really hate having to insert a CD just to play a game, so I first made a cloned DMG of the CD, then used Automator to make a script that would mount the DMG for me, wait a few secs, then run the game. I saved the script, and now just run that rather than having to go through all the steps of inserting the frickin' CD (or mounting that DMG) and then running the game.

My work iMac is a shared workstation and my work needs to be accessible to other people that use the computer. When I am done for the day, I run a script to copy all my project work to a folder on the other user's desktop; sort of a poor man's sync.
