I was just on www.tsn.ca and I was about to watch some sports highlights and it asked me to install Microsoft Silverlight. I had never heard of this program before and I was wondering if someone here could provide some review for this new piece of software from Microsoft.

Thanks in advance.

I can't wait for Silverlight 1.1 which supports DRM. That's what Netflix is waiting for to finally have a Mac solution for watching downloaded movies.

Just downloaded Silverlight and well I'm not impressed. I am not saying it is a terrible product but it doesn't do anything special for me. Just another nuisance having to install another piece of software. Life isn't perfect.

Nothing negative to report as of today.

The Netflix demostration looks very good, i still choose to rent/buy the DVD for the extra features, this seems to integrate all very well. After looking at the resources it seems like you don't need a specific program to make the animations, that is good IMHO.

Is anyone having problems getting the Silverlight plug-in installed for Firefox 2? I installed Silverlight, but it's only detected as installed on Safari, but I'm a FF user :|

A lot of the radio station streams require Silverlight, but I'd prefer not to install another app. Is there any way around using Silverlight? And if there isn't, have any of you had problems with it?

I'm having issues with Silverlight, too. I'm trying to watch the NCAA DIII Soccer Finals today and it keeps asking me to reinstall Silverlight over and over. Annoying.

This is through CBS: CBS College Sports All-Access

Are you on 10.5 or 10.6?

10.6 installs Silverlight as part of it's default installation.

First thing I'd try would be to delete the Silverlight preference files - two of them, located at:

Users / youruser / Preferences / com.Microsoft.Silverlight....

Just move them to the desktop, log out and back in, give it another try.

Silverlight 2.0 will not install on a PPC because it does a processor check looking for an Intel CPU.

Here is a tutorial for installing on a PPC. Can't answer as to whether it will run under Tiger or not. Or how well it is going to run on a G4.

Thanks for the tip... It was a good idea, but didn't work for me. I'll use another method to just listen to the streaming audio instead.
