Firstly apologies for my lack of experience and expertise. I'm new to macs and probably wouldn't have found my way here were it not for the incredibly frustrating afternoon I've had playing around with Finder.
Having become increasingly frustrated with Finder' inability to display folder sizes quickly and accurately I turned to What Size:

I noticed that WhatSize claims Library as 7.7GB whilst Finder settles on 7.15GB or thereabouts. I've tracked this missing half a gig down to
Library/Printers/Xerox/PDEs/
But can't understand why the two programs view the size (and contents) of this folder so differently.
On any other day I might have left it there but I'm afraid that Finder has really exasperated me and this discrepancy seems to illustrate the problems I have had trying to get Finder to tell me what I want to know.
Any explanation would be much appreciated.
