Basically, there is a firmware issue with the 2G Nanos that causes they to lock-up after you sync then go to play a podcast or audiobook. There are lots of threads about it on the Apple forums, but there is no solution to the problem. I feel really crappy about buying a next generation of a product just to get rid of a bug that they should fix with a firmware update.
Do the 3G Nanos have the same lock-up after sync problem that the 2G models had?
