RAM Upgrade - Slower computer?

Your Mac's Specs
MacBook 13" Core Duo, White, 512mb RAM
I just upgraded my RAM from 512mb to 2GB. I find that once I am in a program, it is much faster (for example there is no lag flowing through cover flow in iTunes). However, the actual loading of programs seems to have slowed down. Any reason why this could be?

Maybe its just my imagination:-/
