Screen dims

Does anybody know why my screen on my macbook pro, dims whenever i rest my palms on the upper speaker holes on the left and right side of the machine just back from the screen???

I found the reason, ther ambient light sensors are in the speaker housings. Placing he hands over them affects their reading f ambient light (only why does the screen darken when I darken the speaker grates should it not get brighter <G>)

Well if you think about it, in a dark room the screen is easy to see and you don't need it very bright. When the room is bright or you are outside it's harder to see so it gets brighter.
