Hello all, im new here but i had a question for anyone who might have some experience, advice or knowledge in the area.
Ive recently been looking at the new OS Leopard 10.5. And i must admit from the surface everything looks fine and dandy; But once i began actually looking into the OS i was looking to upgrade to, i couldn't help but notice a one too many coincidences with Leopard and glitch's, error's and reliability. Im currently running an IMac, Mac OS X 10.3.9 so this would be skipping Tiger altogether. 1.8 GHz Processor, Power PC G5. I do have Application Enhancers, Photoshop, Flash and Dreamweaver; I guess the question i am shaping too, is has anyone who has an Imac G5 with similar specs, actually installed Mac OS x Leopard 10.5 Update without any problems? And if you have had some could you perhaps give me an idea about some of the potential problems i might face? Ive heard several complaints about 10.5 actually effecting some programs specifically (ie Photoshop etc) I tried to contact a Mac Specialist to inquire, but i spent 2 hours on the phone to talk to a voice synthesized AI babble about Blue Screens.
Any info or help would be most appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Suggest you wait until X.5.3 or so if you are that concerned and by then all the applications you mention will/should have Leopard support.

Many of the errors and blue screens have come about through upgrading rather than a clean install. Suggest before you jump, burning all your updates for your program to a DVD and having it handy.

The problems with Adobe are well documented on the Adobe site and fixes are in the works. Unless you are a heavy CS user, they will likely not impact you. If you are using any of the UNSANITY Haxies, they don't work with 10.5 at all and UNSANITY is saying nothing.

Thank you anyways. I have been hearing about, people who were going to wait until a 10.5.3 - 10.5.6 update to be on the safe side. Thanks again.

Yes i am a heavy Adobe user. Everyday, for a majority of it, so it is something i rely on. Thankyou for that validation, as ive heard rumors but nothing substantial. Im also using a ton of Unsanity Haxies so my goal at this point is to hold off on the 10.5 update. Dam and i was looking forward to applying those Shape-Shifter Transparency themes. Many thanks

I'm waiting for UNSANITY to say anything, but they have been silent about their Haxies since the day after 10.5 was released. Their site has a long list of complaints in the blog from users who are patiently waiting for something but getting nothing from them. Sadly, their silence is going to cost then business and they don't seem to care.

You can find more details on the Adobe issues here:

Thanks again Matey,
Unsanity lost my business a while ago. I think the reason they dont really care is because theres no one to really compete with them. If i knew of another Mac interface enhancer/Gui skin application id switch in a SECOND! Call me crazy but aside from the tweek's/software compatibility in 10.5, in contrast to 10.3, the reason i want the update is for an overall interface "redesign/reconstruction". But in this case i dont think it will be worth it just yet. Thanks for the info again.
