redirecting problem

i have a powermac g4 with two internal hard drives, one with tiger and one with panther, when i startup with tiger and go online to search, what ever i click on, 90% of the time i get redirected, to sales, porn and everything but the site, now when i startup with my panther hard drive everything works perfect. i have gotten something in my tiger that i need to get out. any ideas what to look for or do. tis really frustrating. i ran MacScan and it finds tracking cookies and i remove them but it keeps happening. any ideas where to start.

DNS is part of your network settings.

Hosts is /etc/hosts

DNS = Domain Name System.

It takes a name as in www.mac-forums.com and translates it to an ip address as in this case 69.20.37.125.

Host is normally referred to as the hosts table. This file has local host information as in local-host which equates to 127.0.0.1.

well i checked my network preferences and they appear to be set the same as they have always been set. in the box next to DSN there is nothing but there has never been anything in there. i called my sever provider and they said i might have a virus.

believe me when im saying that im searching the web to find out everything i can about DSN and host folders. this is new to me and im trying to understand it. my sever provider it something i don't want to mess with, but then how do i learn.

Archive and install to save yourself the pain. It will be faster than troubleshooting. really.

i didn't leave neg. anything. but i did figure, by your response to my question, that you consider yourself a pretty important person, to important, and busy, to fully explain yourself in a answer, yet your diffidently going to let me know you, more than likely, know the solution. which isn't an archive and install. i already thought of that and i don't know anything about computers. nice to hear that some one read this thread and figured out what kind of a person you hold yourself up to be. what can i say, keep up the good work.
