wrong password

what's goin' on .. i don't know ..
it keeps tellin' me "wrong username or password" when i'm tryin' to unlock the system preferences .. and this is the same username and password that i'm usin' from the 1st day i bought this macbook .. and this the same username and password i'm loggin' with .. plz help me i'm out of the city and i don't have my system's dvds right now to reset the password .. i won't go back now and i need to use my macbook .. anybody knows what can i do ??????

The system password can't just mysteriously change like that. Did you try not entering any password (I'm sure you did that, silly me).

Still, I think for now the OS X DVD is your only hope cause even to show the password in Keychain you need the admin/password.

Has nothing to do with being a beginner, sometime the simple mistakes will get you.
