Applications Folder Display Re-ordering Icons

This is something I've been noticing lately ever time I open my Applications folder. I like to keep my icons in alphabetical order for Applications. I have 101 icons in the folder (including applications, application folders, and maybe a couple of support files). Sometimes when I open the folder I find the applications out of order, often not aligned neatly. Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening?

If it helps, here's some info on the computer I'm working on:
Power PC G4 iBook
Processor: 1.42 GHz
OS: 10.4.11
Memory: 1GB

Right click inside the folder, and "Show View Options". From there select "Align by name" and select "make this for all folders". The wordings I'm sure are different from what I've mentioned, but there's not many options to fiddle around with so you should get it right.
