I am using 10.4.11, on an iMac using the internal 500GB hard drive as the startup disk (with approx. 350GB free space). Just recently a Volumes folder appears every time I startup containing an alias to the hard drive. I can trash-it, but it re-appears at next startup. Anyone got any idea why it has appeared and how I can delete it?

The volumes folder has a folder (mount point) for each mounted partition/ disk. No need of deleting it. It's just a pointer to the mounted device and not using up your disk space.

Where is the volumes folder?

It is on my desktop (actually in the hard disk window).
