I will be picking up a new laptop in January and am holding out for the expo to see what new products are released. Does Apple typically have the product released the same day in the stores to coincide with new product announcements? Or is it usually all online preorder? If memory serves me correctly, I thought they usually did, but not with the iPod touch or the iPhone. Just curious.

The iPhone and iPod Touch were the first products to be "pre-announced" if I recall correctly. Most other announcements that I can remember, product was available in store and online to coincide with His-Steveness keynotes.

I think the Apple TV had a 6 week or so wait time after the Steve-note.

If you dont know yet apple does what it wants when it feels like it.
But im sure there wont be a very long wait. They just want to make sure everything is right as possible.
