Macbook: 2.16 CPU/2GB RAM
Whats a really good Photo editor for Mac OSX. Im not sure if iPhoto does this but I just want to add effects to pics like photobooth stuff.

I know that Photoshop is a good one, but any free software versions that are pretty intuitive

You have Pixelmator, it's cheap, but it's not free...

Between the free alternatives I've tried, I like GIMP best. Unfortunately you need to run X11 to use GIMP.

Lightzone is an amazing photo app for those who want to add 'effects'. I think a trial is available somewhere. Not to be confused with Adobe Lightroom.

However, shouldn't PhotoBooth effects be easy to apply to any image? Aren't they like Core Image based?

No Photobooth if I am not mistaken, only adds effects to pictures that are taken from the i-Sight camera.

I know that. But those effects are coming from somewhere right? I'm pretty sure it's Core Image or something like that.
