If you sync your iPod with your Mac, you cannot plug it into your friends PC. As soon as you do so, it will say that in order for this to work, you will need to delete everything on your iPod.

So, yes.. If you wish to plug your iPod into a friends computer, and theirs is a PC, it must be synced to a PC as well. Even so -- If you're doing this, make sure that you don't have your iPod set to automatically sync to the computer because when you plug it into another, it will do just that and you may not be too happy with the results.

My experience.

Moral is:
Mac-formated iPod works fine on Mac and Linux, not Windows.

First things first. You can't sync one iPod with two iTunes accounts. Right?

i dont think so but there are programs to back your music onto a computer right why cant you add your current selection to thier computer and then you get thier music and yours (in theory).

I dont know what it is I do but I had my ipod before I had my mac and i have been using it on both machines without issue, sometimes it takes a minute or so for my macbook to recognize my ipod but I havent had any issues actually accessing it. I dont auto sync though, from the very beginning I have always drag and dropped. not sure if this has any effect, cant imagine it would
