There is no set schedule or historical pattern for Apple hardware updates of any kind.

No, I'm just saying how often. Is it like every month, week, or never.

There have only been 2 GPUs in the MBP line since launch - the X1600 and the 8600m - in almost 2 years of the machine being available.

I'd guess the next GPU in the pro line notebook will be based on the nVidia 9xxx range of GPUs, no sooner than June next year, possibly later.

There could be a minor revision to the 8600m, but this is unlikely. It's actually a pretty good chip, far better than the X1600 IMO.

I'm sorry, I should have specified. I meant like updates...(patches, new drivers, etc.)

As far as i know, i dont think ive ever seen any graphics card driver updates since ive had my MBP??

A couple "Intel" based ones but never seen anything specifically for the graphics card.

Is there a particular reason you're asking? Like, are you having a problem? Maybe we can help...

I'm asking because on my current laptop (PC), Nvidia never released updates for their graphics cards. There is maybe one a year. I wanted to see if it was any different for Macs

I think the problem with windows type laptops is there are so many hardware configurations that the drivers need to be updated regularly and to cope with Windows updates.

I don't think this is the case with the Mac as they are only produced by Apple and not third parties i believe.
