Hi Everyone,
Hoping you guys could help me a little bit.
My friend has a really old PC and he is getting 108mbps and can download things at 2mbps sometimes. I have an Intel iMac with a Belkin N1 Wireless Router. I am only getting 56mbps and can download at maybe 600kb. Is it because the Airport is only Wireless G? Do I need a better wireless adapter?

Thanks For Any Help You Can Give Me!:)

Do you mean over the network or through broadband/fibre (IN THIS CASE)
if you mean LAN then you need either wirless N or plug a ethernet cable in.

Over the network. My router is on my 3rd floor and my Mac is on my second floor.

Are we comparing a wired PC to a wireless Mac? Are they connected to the same router?
Sounds like there way too many variables to say what the problem is, if thereis one.

Mac is wireless as is the PC. He has the same router as me but at his house.
He has a Netgear Wireless adapter. I was just wondering if there was anyway to get the download speeds that he is getting on his old PC on my new iMac.

There is no magical button on Macs to make stuff download faster.
My DL speeds are about half what they used to be. My modem is going bad according to my cable company. He said it was due to packet data loss.
Maybe you're having a similar problem?
