Running Maintenance Scripts???

First of all, what is a maintenance script?
second, how do I do it?

question 1. They are scripts that run daily, weekly, and monthly, (as long as your mac is turned on) to help keep your machine running smoothly.


Question 2. you can get a program like onyx or something if you want a GUI. If you are using the terminal you can type the following commands:

In tiger:

sudo /etc/daily
sudo /etc/weekly
sudo /etc/monthly

or in leopard

sudo periodic daily weekly monthly


you will need to know the admin password and the weekly part will take a few minutes or m omre to complete, dont panic if it seems your machine is just sitting there.
