I bought ram for my macbook pro through Newegg and I just got the new 24" iMac and would like to upgrade it to 4GB (currently has 2).

Three questions:

A. What manufacturer do you recommend?

B. What are the ram specs (to make sure I buy the right kind) and how many slots are there (do I have to buy two 2gb sticks or just one)?

C. Anyone have a link to a video on installing it?

Thanks in advance for the input!

:)

I personally recommend crucial as that is what i use.

I havent seen a video install but here is a link to the directions provided by apple. It also tells you the specs you need for the RAM

You need 2 X 2GB PC2-5300 240pin DDR2 SoDimms.

If you were in the UK - I am actually a RAM retailer and could sell you some, I have hundreds - but I doubt you would want to wait a week!

Thanks

Doesn't the iMac use SODIMM 200 pin RAM? It should be the same as for the Macbook Pro...

You are right...

It is 200 PIN not 240... I used the compatibility feature on OWC... I should have put that in here in case someone else asks...

I'm not sure if you are agreeing with me or correcting me. Just to be sure, I said it is 200 pin. The guy Alexmaccoll said that you need 240pin...

Just for future reference...if You pay the cheapest shipping on OWC which is $4.50 you get it in about 2 days time if you are USA...I bought mine yesterday and it will be here tomorrow. Every time I or my friends buy from them it ships that fast and we are all over the country...

But good deal on your ram...

Apologies to all - but don't be so vicious!

20" imac 4 gigs Patriot RAM
I ugraded mine with the Patriot Ram that someone linked on here. It took me longer to turn my computer off and unplug it than it did to install the 4 gigs of Ram. This thing is a beast now!!!
