Printer not showing correct fonts

When I print to my HP color deskjet 3500 from my MBP the fonts get swaped from Myriad pro to a condensed font.

Is this just a driver issue?

Sounds like it to me. Did you actually download the driver from HP or are you using a Generic Postscript or Gutenprint/GIMP-PRINT driver?
