no way to eject cd

My mini would not load I booted up using my install disc went to disc utility and chose repair.It said the underlying task reported failure on exit. I tried to install from the cd and it said cannot newer system on mini.I went to eject cd in disc utility and it was grayed out.How do I eject the disc.

Make sure your mouse is plugged in. Restart the computer holding down the mouse button.

Open terminal and type "eject cdrom"

I cannot get past the starting mac osx screen so I cannot do that.

I restarted holding mouse button got a 5 second high pitched beep then it stuck on the loading osx screen.I use a wireless mouse if that makes any difference.

I think it needs to be a wired mouse because by the time the screen comes up your mouse driver is not loaded or paired with the system.

Bingo.

try this (used this on the ALum iMac issue unloading Leopard)

turn off the mac
hold Option key down and turn on the mac
hold key down till a graphic shows with an arrow under it
release key and hit eject button
this works only for wired keyboards

Apple support walked me through this

Find the wired keyboard and mouse an absolute necessity for doing installs, using Apple Hardware Test, DiskWarrior, especially version 4 and of course little jobs like stuck CD's.

So if you use wireless, sure need a back up.

To put an eject icon on your menu bar go to:

hard drive/system/core services/menu extras/eject menu
Click on it and it will put an icon on your menu bar

Or f12 on standard keyboard...
