.DS_Store on my desktop all of a sudden?

I just noticed yesterday there is this icon ".DS_Store" on my desktop not sure where it came from. I keep deleting it but it just wouldn't go away, it reappears as soon as I send it to trash. Can someone please help me out? Thanks...

You are seeing an invisible file, the DS_Store file.

Did you run a utility like OnyX or MainMenu and ask to see invisible files?

I ran main menu I guess I clicked on "show invisibles" accidentally. It's fixed now. Thanks. I take it this file is normal and doesn't harm anything?
