MS Word: Copy, Paste Missing

I'm using Office 2004 on 10.4.9
The Copy, Paste & print features are missing from the Edit drop down menu, although the keyboard shortcuts (Comm+C, Comm+V, Comm+P) work fine.
I've tried deleting the Microsoft prefs & reinstalling Office.
I then ran the Office updates to 11.3.9
Still no luck. The funny thing is, these features work fine in Excel, Powerpoint & Entourage.
Is there something I'm missing?

I am sure I have had this one sometimes.

I just put it down to Microsoft - is it persistent or intermittent?
