Hmm, I doubt there's any real connection. Maybe this comes form all the VW/Apple joint venture rumors that were swirling around a while back.

Incidentally, I did almost but a new VW Passat back in '03, but it was a little too pricey (poor people do own Macs ;) ). Since I just got my MBP in 2007, that's hardly a connection.

No connection I know of but Jobs or Woz did drive a VW Bus back in the old days, but back then the VW Bus was popular with some of types of people.

None of my Mac loving friends that I have known over the years ever drove a VW that I can remember. :D

Is it typical that Volkswagen owners are generally Mac users, or is it the other way around. Mrad and I are both avid Mac users since we’re in the creative field. I recently switched over to a Macbook Pro from years on a PC at work… Mrad will be getting his shiny new Mac Pro soon.

Maybe it’s because Volkswagen owners are attracted to a general set of design traits: clean lines, minimalism and simplicity, sleek materials, etc. Both VWs and Macs sport these traits.

found this on volksbloggin.

I just believed it because i am about to purchase a mb for my mom and a mbp for me and a vw gli next year. I just like how the companies were minimalistic in appearance. imo. i was just curios

No, but I would like a Golf R32 V6. It would make a great second car for those day when I don't want the sound of my 400 hp V8.

I've never owned a VW, mainly because when they were air cooled, in winter it was like being stuck between Neptune and Pluto without a space suit. Scraping the inside of the windshield at 40 below, gas heater notwithstanding, was the only thing keeping drivers from freezing solid. As a kid, that was why, being able to afford only the cheapest car, I bought the Renaults. They had terrific heat, with outlets even under the back seat.

Ten years ago I drove an air-cooled VW bus at 100 km/h (62 mph) 800 miles on the highway in the winter, and simple it wasn't: that bus has 24 heat controls. Twenty-four! I had to read the owner's manual to figure the things out. Topping it off, it got only 15 mpg — imperial gallons.

I have an 04 Jetta. I think the wastegate on the Turbo is going. When it's dead I'm going to get a t3/t4 setup and aim for about 300+ WHP. I have a MBP and two CD's. I only got the MBP for recording really, it had nothing to do with what car I own. I'm in a largish VW group out of Rockville, MD, right next to DC. The majority of their computers are PCs.

I think the reason you may see more VW owners as Mac users vs Honda owners or Toyota owners, is that most of their vehicles are seen as being more expensive and being held at a higher standard than other manufactures. A lot of people thing Honda and think ricer (thank you stupid street racing cliche filled movies) as well as other brands of similar type autos that fill the markets with badly modified and cheap vehicles. Most dubs are usually tastefully modded and people invest in them. People that own the cars seem to have more money in general and seem to be the more mature people with the better jobs/income.

I know that's a giant stereo type. I know people that make a lot of money and drive cheaply modded Hondas. I know people that make nothing and drive very very nice VW and audi cars.

I am in the London VW club and do the website. We get much more than average (10-15%) hits from mac users that macs 5% share would indicate.

And I am always bumping in to VW owning designers while freelancing in London, both me (web - editor) and the Chairman are designers and their are a lot of VW club members who are in bands (music - another mac stronghold)

So my experience is yes (restoring a 1974 Beetle - Drive a Polo)
