i have successfully installed windows xp through boot camp, but when hold down the option key at startup it doesnt show windows as a partition. the only way to boot up windows is through the startup disk in the system preferences in leopard.

Use rEFIt. It has nice graphical menu compared to BC.

When you launch Boot Camp, what do you see? Also, there is a utility called Boot Champ, it allows you to restart to Windows without opening System Preferences or changing the default startup disk.

Same problem

I have the same problem. I just installed Windows with boot camp. I can get into either Windows or the Mac OS going through system preferences, but when I press the option key at start up, all it shows is the Mac OS.

Try the app in my signature - BootPicker, it is very cool, and gives you a screen to choose either Mac OS, or Windows to boot into when the Mac starts up.
