AV programmes in a Mac

I am in the process of buying my first Mac. I have been told that there is little risk of attack by viruses and/or trojans, and I believe it. In fact this is one of the main reasons for changing from a PC.

However, I should not be hapy without some protection. I use AVG on my PC but there is no Mac equivalent. I know both Norton and McAfee do AV programmes for Macs. Is the choice between them purely a matter of personal preference or is there one product which is significantly better?

I'll be grateful for any advice on this.

Thanks for this. In the past I have had trouble with both Norton and McAfee using their multiple products, so I shall probably settle for the simple AV programme.
