So, for quite some time I have been EXTREMELY excited for leopard.
Last night I finally have the money so I go pick it up and hurry home to install it.
here's where it all started.
first, it took almost four hours to install
then once it was done
my computer was significantly slower.
and i mean by A LOT!
come to find out more then half of my applications wont even open.
so i download the updates... which took about another hour. needless to say I was furious.
My computer was amazing before i let leopard eat it alive.
so now, I'm downgrading back to tiger.
My Mac may be fairly old, but its not half bad
i have a 1.25ghz G4 eMac
with 2 gb ram
and a 160 gig hard drive
not bad right???
well, leopard took about 30 gigs of my hard drive and everything runs soooooooo slow
what should i do
is there anything i can do to fix it?

Keep in mind that for the first hour or so, Spotlight will be indexing your hard drive to prepare it for searching. I would leave it on for a few hours and come back to it. If it's still slow, try a clean install or archive and install.

Several people say that you should do a clean install of Leopard, and, if you decide to do it as an upgrade, make sure that you have removed those programs that tweak the appearance of the OS, like ShapeShifter and similars. Good luck.

yes. if you upgraded from tiger. you should >definitely< back up your data and do a clean erase and install. and leopard shouldn't have taken 30GB of your HD

if you do an 'erase and install' you would definitely loose iLife...
im sure if you already have it installed there may be a way to 'back it up'..

and to preform an erase and install - on the screen right before the install begins there is a customize or options button (I don't exactly remember) -click that, and choose erase and install
