I am a brand new Mac user....I've had it for about two hours now. I downloaded Microsoft Manager and it is showing on the desktop in the Finder. Is there anyway I can move this? It doesn't seem to be letting me move it. I would like it in the applications folder on the HD if possible. Is it better to delete it and then re-download it? Please, I could use your help. Thanks.

Read the instructions.

From what I see on their page, you downloaded a diskimage file. Signified with the .dmg extension. These files you ofter get from software developers. You double click them to open up what is a disk image containing the content of interest. You either drag the application to the Applications folder or double click a .pkg file or a third party installer. Always read the instructions first to know what to do.

i'm new too and that happens sometimes with other programs. no longer with messenger. i don't think it was installed right when it happened with me.

what i do is basically just make sure the program is installed. run the dmg and drag and drop it into your applications folder. if something's still on your desktop then trash it. keep the dmg file in case that screws up... that's what i do... but i'm new too, so yeah.

I figured it out. It was actually simple. I was reading too much into it and not wanting to screw my new computer up.

I did read the instructions. The download instructions didn't say anything about clearing it from your desktop or if you didn't want it there, the download process didn't even give a way to save it somewhere else (in Safari).
