Someone asked me if I wanted Leopard, iLife 08, or a new iPod nano (4 gb for $149). Which one, in your opinion, would you get? I'm thinking no to the iLife. I mean, i'm not a huge video/web/music guy so I wouldn't take advantage of enough the features to warrant the purchase.

What would you get?

I'd choose none of the above, but thats because I have an iPod, iLife and Leopard, and Jessica Simpson is an idiot.

I'd say Leopard, but thats only because I don't like any of the other options. Unless you don't have an iPod, then I might change my vote.

If you have none of them, go for leopard. You can find cheap music players anywhere and ilife isn't a necessity. I would go for leopard.

Here is a couple of questions for you.

Do you need or want iLife?
Do you have any software that does not run on Leopard?
Do you want and iPod?

And just say no to Jessica Simpson, you can do better.

If you want to fiddle with music/video/photo editing apps, go for ilife.
If you want to have music on the go, pick the ipod.
If you really love some of leopard's features, go for that.
If you are an idiot and have no standards pick this scum like human being.

And you never mentioned iwork. Which I think is a viable option too.

So for me I'll rate each option in the order I'd get them.

1. Leopard (But 10.4 is a rock solid system too)
2. ipod (Can also be used like a USB stick if you so wish)
3. ilife 08 (asuming you already have ilife 06)
4. iwork (Appleworks + some of the freeware apps can do a good job at text editing. But keynote and numbers for me are the best on the mac anywhere for what they do.
