Drag the application from your applications folder into the trash. Empty the trash.

If you are extremely picky about uninstallations, which you shouldn't, then you can use AppZapper.

Is it really that easy? Windows is such a pain in comparison.:D

If you use appzapper or deleting progs for mac, take note of what it's deleting... I found that it includes files that don't belong to the application it's deleting. I think tho, the same thing can be accomplished by doing a search with finder or spotlight

Seriously why bother? Dragging it to the trash is more than enough. If there is a need for an uninstaller (very very rare), it is provided by the software developer. A few plist files here and there are not going to degrade system performance...

They do not degrade system performance but over time they do take up unnecessary space. you could try appzapper or cleanapp. Both have trial versions available. Once you have used one of those apps, use finder to search for any other files the uninstallers may have missed

Appzapper probably takes up as much space as a year's worth of these files.

If you want to uninstall an application(100%), simply dragging it from the Application folder is not enough. All most all the Applications copy support files and user preferences to the respective folders. These should also be removed, if you want 100% clean up.
Folders to be checked are

/Users/<user name>/Library/Preferences/<some long name>.plist
/Users/<user name>/Library/Application Support/<Application>
/Users/<user name>/Library/Caches
/<HDD>/Library/Receipsts/

Finder might help you tracking down those clattered files.
