Hey, I recently bought a MacBook online and just discovered I purchased the one without the superdrive. I was wondering if it was possible to buy an external dvd rewriter rather than sending my MacBook back to Apple. I was also wondering if I had to order an external from Apple directly or is there an all purpose external dvd rewriter that is compatible with leopard on the Macbook?

Almost all external DVD writers will be compatible with your Macbook.

I got one for $80 from CompUSA and it works great. I had a Sony before, and OS X Tiger would recognize it. The Apple tech told me some Sony devices had issues with Mac... dunno??

Make sure you get a firewire drive rather than USB. Many reported problems with USB drives. We have a LaCie external with firewire and it works great!
