Changing to Mac

I have just signed on so I hope I am posting this in the right place.

I have always used a Windows computer, but I am getting incresingly fedup with the problems associated with Microsoft's programmes. Windows XP SP2 may well be the last straw for me.

Apart from buying a machine (!) where can I find information on changing over all my applications and files? I am reasonably computer literate as far as using the computer is concerned, but totally ignorant when it comes to diving below the bonnet so to speak.

My thanks in advance

Ronald
