Hi,

I'm about to make the leap from the Windoze world to MacBook Pro. I currently use a number of different softwares including the Pinnacle Studio Suite. I would like something comparable for the MBP. I've read many different messages here about FCE and FCE-HD - and also iMovie.
What intrigues me - and really prompts this thread is the question that I cannot seem to find the answer to;

Is iMovie bundled in with the standard MBP? I cannot find it anywhere listed on the Apple Software site. Point in fact, there's nothing that tells you what software you do or do not get with the MBP.

Can anyone give me a hand here?

Thanks!

So then, Final Cut Express and Final Cut Pro are both Intel Chipset compatible?

Thank you...

Yes, I use Intel Chipset MBP and imac, and both run FCE perfectly well. You just want a good amount of Ram, 2Gig or more. iMovie is a great little app though. I use iMovie HD, and it is awesome...the only thing it doesn't do natively is video layers. But, you can purchase plugins that allow it to do that from what I understand.

This page shows what software you get. Look at the lower right side.

Thought I should mention that iMovie HD is the previous version that no longer comes with a new Mac. iMovie 08 is the 'new' iMovie and currently there are no third party effects add-ons. iMovie HD is available for download for iMovie 08 users.

Thanks CameraMan - Is there a website that shows the delta between FC Express and FC Pro?

I was pushing the functionality of Pinnacle Studio pretty hard in some areas and would like to put the "limits" well up ahead of my needs. BUT by the same token, I don't want to buy yet another piece of software that I will need to take 6 months of night-school training on its use.
Pinnacle was not very intuitive and I'm hoping that the world of Mac and the softwares that run upon it are everything I've been lead to believe they were...
