Acces Files Through Internet

Okay so i have a MacBook Pro and i heard that you can access your desktop, or your shared files through the internet...........is this any way possible or true???

You can set up your Mac as an FTP server - provided it is on the internet and powered up while you are away.

But that gives you full access to your user account - if anybody does guess your username and password that might be too much sharing

I use PureFTPd Manager to set up users with access to specific folders in my user account and nothing else.

You can start the Macs FTP service through

 > System Preferences > Sharing > Services

Make sure your passwords are pretty good though
