iWeb(prior to '08)- Disappearing photos

I have been trying to create an iWeb page using photos in iPhoto. I am able to transfer and arrange my photos with no problem but when I save the page and return at a later time all the photos are gone but my text on that page remains. I have made sure I did not exceed 99 pictures and always click on the save button before I quit iWeb. Also when I tried to publish these photos to my .Mac account the program freezes and I have to force quit iWeb. Has anyone had the same experience, if so how did you resolve it? BTW I'm still running this Tiger.
