mouse not smooth after sleep

For the past week or so my mac has been having a problem coming out of sleep. About fifty percent of the time it will start up but the screen will remain black for a couple of minutes. The main issue im having is that after it wakes up from sleep the mouse sometimes becomes extremely laggy. It doesn't matter if I use my bluetooth mouse or the touch pad but its so bad im forced to completely restart my computer which fixes it. Is there something I can do to fix this? Also I think i read this in some other thread but since 10.5.1 my "unrepairable" permissions went up from 1 to about 10. Is this is a common problem?thanks.

I hope someone chimes in on this, as I am having the same problem. Have to restart to fix it.
